Tung Lok Signatures, The Central

Yes, I know we eat here a lot. But there's a good reason for the frequency in our meals here. The food's consistently good, service generally fantastic, and the restaurant is conveniently on our way home from the office.

Today, we had the Stewed Ee-fu Noodles with Ground Dried Sole Fish ($16) was full of flavour, the braising liquid had seeped thoroughly into the soft noodles. Chives lent a fresh clear twist to the tasty noodles, while crunchy mushrooms added texture.

The Signatures Roast Duck ($20) is one of the better ones around, meat was fresh, juicy and tender, and skin was crisp, with a thin layer of guiltily yummy fat underneath.

The Poached Seasonal Vegetables with Three Kinds of Egg ($20) was also delicious. Chinese spinach was soft with a bit of bite, the sweet broth was thickened by salted egg yolk while diced boiled century eggs and scrambled eggs completed the mild simple dish.

On a whim, we decided to have the Coconut Ice-Cream with Purple Rice Puree ($6), a deconstructed version of our local dessert of pulut hitam. This was very good, sweet without being saccharine, and the coconut ice-cream was refreshing and light.
